शतवर्षेभ्यः पूर्वं जर्मनीदेशे एकः प्रसिद्धः महावैज्ञानिकः प्रवृद्धः | तस्य नाम “आल्बर्ट् आइन्स्टाइनः” इति | उत्तमछात्रः सः पठनकुशलतया विविधशस्त्राणि अधीत्य गणित-भौतिक-शास्त्रयोः पराङ्गतः सञ्जात: | तस्य प्रकाशविद्यायां नितरां आसक्तिः आसीत् | सः कार्यम् कुर्वन् कदाचित् वातायनात् ऊर्ध्वं तिष्ठन्तं घटीगोपुरम् अवलोक्य ध्यानमग्नः भवति स्म | यद्यहं घट्याः प्रकाशरश्मीणाम् अपेक्षया लोकयानेन वेगतरं गच्छामि तर्हि मम दृष्ट्या घट्याः हस्तौ चलतः अथवा स्थगयतः? इति मन्यमानः सः समाधानं प्राप्त्यर्थं तितिक्षया प्रतीक्षते स्म |

A 100 years ago, a famous and great scientist grew up in Germany. His name was Albert Einstein. As an excellent student and being skillful in studying, he studied various sciences and became a subject matter expert in math and physics. He had a lot of interest in “light.” Sometimes while working, he saw the standing clock tower outside his window and became contemplative. In the bus, if I were to travel faster than the light rays from the clock, then in my vision will the hands of the clock move or stay still? Thinking so, he patiently waited to get a resolution.

बहुभ्यः दिनेभ्यः निद्रया विना दीर्घेण मननेन च सः ज्योतिर्विषये संशोधनं कृत्वा अन्ते उत्तराणि प्राप्तवान् | कालान्तरेण केचन नियमाः अपि तेन निर्मिताः | घन-शक्तयोः मध्ये भेदः कोऽपि नास्ति | तन्मद्ये परिवर्तनं शक्यंम् इति | एतावत् पर्यन्तं भौतिकशास्त्रविज्ञानिनः आकाश: समय: च इति पृथक् विचारौ अमन्यन्त परन्तु आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः तेषाम् अभिप्रायं निक्षिप्तवान् | सः आकाशं समयं च संयोज्य आकाश-समय-वक्रः इति नूतनविचारं व्यवृणोत् | सर्वासु कल्पनासु तस्य श्रेष्ठा कल्पना गुरुत्वाकर्षणम् इति अस्ति | बृहद्ग्रहसमीपे गुरुत्वाकर्षणशक्त्या ज्योतिर्गतिः वक्रा भवति इति सप्रमाणम् अददात् | अनेन सः सामान्य-सम्बन्धीय-सिद्धान्तः विशिष्ट-संबन्धीय-सिद्धान्तः च इति सिद्धान्तद्वयं व्यवस्त्यापितवान् |

For many days, without sleep and with deep contemplation, he researched the topic of light and in the end got answers. In due course of time, he established some rules as well. Between matter and energy there is no difference. It is possible to interchange between one another. Until now, physicists thought time and space were different concepts, but Einstein merged space and time and created a new concept called “Space Time Curve.” Amongst all these theories, the one on gravity is the best. In the presence of a large planet, he proved that the path of light becomes curved. By this, he established the concepts of general theory of relativity and special theory of relativity.

एकदा आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः कस्मिंश्चित् मुख्यमेलने भौतिकशास्त्रस्य व्याख्यानं दातुम् अवकाशं प्राप्तवान् | तदवसरे वृष्ट्या बहिः अत्यन्तं शैत्यम् गहनम् अन्धकारः च आसीत् | यानचालकः वाहनं शुद्धीकृत्य द्वारम् उद्घातिटतवान् यदा आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः गृहसोपानेषु अवतरन् आसीत् | क्षणं विरम्य वाहनेन गच्छन्तं चालकं आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः मृदुस्वरेण उक्तवान्, “अहोरात्रं भौतिकशास्त्रेषु एव अहं निमग्नः अस्मि | सर्वेषु मेलनेषु सभायां न कदापि अन्यां कल्पनां वदामि, एतेन मया जामिता जाता |” इति | वस्तुतः सः कदाचित् एकस्मिन् दिनैव पञ्च षट् वा व्याख्यानि दत्त्वा श्रान्तः आसीत् |

Once Einstein got an opportunity to give a lecture at an important conference. During that opportunity, because of the rains, it was very cold, dense, and dark outside. The driver, having cleaned the car, had opened the door when Einstein was walking down the steps of his house. After a few moments, Einstein spoke in a soft voice to the driver going in the car. “Day and night I am immersed in physics. In all meetings there is no other topic that I speak of and by this I am bored.” It was a fact that sometimes in a day alone he gave five or six lectures and got tired.

चालकेन विज्ञानशास्त्रं न अधीतं परन्तु तस्य बुद्धिः तीक्ष्णा स्मरणशक्तिः अनुपमा च आसीत् | चालकः प्रत्युत्तरितवान् “भगवन्! आम्! भवता यदुक्तं तदुचितम् | मया सभायां अन्तिमासन्दे उपविश्य बहुवारं भवतः भाषणं श्रुतम् | यद्यपि अस्मिन् शास्त्रे मम अवगमनं न समीचीनं तथापि केवलं श्रवणमात्रेण अहम् एतस्य विज्ञानस्य वक्ता भवितुम् अर्हामि | वैज्ञानिकरुपेण यदि अहं भवदीयं व्याख्यानं श्रावयामि तर्हि तत्र का वा हानिः?” इति | आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः स्मयमानः उत्साहेन उक्तवान् | “अये! एवं तथैव आवां कुर्वः | वस्त्रपरिवर्तनं करवाव | मदीयं कृष्णवर्णं शिरस्त्रं अपि गृह्णातु | यत्र आवां गच्छनतौ स्वः तत्र केऽपि मम मुखपरिचयं न जानन्ति अतः अयं मुख्यविषयः” इति |

The driver had not studied any sciences but his intellect was sharp and his memory incomparable. The driver responded, “Sir, what you say is appropriate. I have sat in the last row of the assembly hall and listened to your lecture many times. Even though my understanding isn’t very good in this subject matter yet, I am capable of being an orator purely by listening. If I give your lecture in the guise of a scientist, is there any loss?” Einstein smiled and enthusiastically said, “Hey! Let us do that. Let us change our clothes. Take my black cap as well. Where we are going nobody knows my face so that is important.”

किञ्चित्कालानन्तरं यदा उभावपि प्राप्तवन्तौ तदा कुतूहलतया उपविष्टः जनसम्मर्दः अधिकः आसीत् | प्राध्यापकवेशं धृत्वा वाहनचालकः वेदिकां आरुह्य भाषणम् आरभत | कृष्णफलके गणितचिह्नानि उत्तमरीत्या आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयवत् तेन लिखितानि | स्पष्टतया सर्वान् मुख्यान् अंशान् श्रावितवान् | शृणवतां जनानां अवधानेन तत्र सूच्याः पतनशब्दः अपि न श्रुतः | भाषणसमाप्त्या प्रेक्षकैः उच्चैः यावत् करताडनं कृतं तावत् आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयः सन्तोषम् अनुभूतवान् |

After some time, when they both reached the assembly hall, an eager and large crowd was seated. In the guise of a professor, the driver climbed the stage and began the speech. He wrote Math equations excellently on the black board just like Einstein. He clearly narrated the important points. From the concentration of the listening gentlemen not even the sound of a falling needle was heard. At the end of the speech, Einstein was gladdened to the extent the audience clapped.

प्रश्नकालः आगतः | आसन्देषु उपविशत्सु विज्ञानिषु एकः चतुरः कश्चन मध्यवयस्कः पुरुषः पर्यालोच्य समस्यां परिहर्तुं हस्तम् उन्नीय प्रश्नं पृष्टवान् | तस्य कठिनं प्रश्नं श्रुत्वा आइन्स्टाइन-महोदयस्य हृदयस्पन्दनं प्रश्नभीत्या तीव्रतरं सञ्जातम् | “एषः किं करोति इदानिम्? अस्मदीयां वञ्चनां सर्वे अवगच्छन्ति |” इति चिन्तितवान् | परन्तु चालकः चातुर्यसामर्थ्येन मन्दहासं प्रकटयन् उक्तवान्, “श्रीमन् किमर्थं क्लेशःअत्र? भवतः प्रश्नः सरलः अपि च सामान्यः | प्रकोष्ठस्य पृष्ठभागे मम उपविशन्तं वाहनचालकं अपि तस्य उत्तरं दातुं शंक्नोति | चालकमहोदय! कृपया अस्मिन् विषये कञ्चित् प्रकाशं ददातु |” इति |

It was time for Q and A. Amongst the seated scientists, a clever middle aged person having contemplated, raised his hands to get his doubts clarified. Fearing from the difficult question he heard, Einstein’s heartbeat became rapid. He thought, “What will he do now? Everyone will now know our game.” However, the clever driver smiled and said, “Sir, what is the difficulty here? Your question is simple and straightforward. At the rear of the room my driver who is sitting can also answer this. Oh! Driver! Sir! Please shine some light in this matter.”
